If you could live anywhere in the world...

Lake ...be anywhere...at this very point in time, where would you like to be?

You have no appointments...no deadlines...no responsibilities.

You're free, and for this one moment in time, you could be anywhere you want to be.

Where would that be? Why?

Me...I'd want to be here.

Great headline.

I would say, Ribeezie, that it's not so much where I would want to be physically, but what I'd like to have involved in my life, that would bring me the supreme happiness.

That being said, as far as a physical place, maybe a month or three in Japan (: Just exploring, relaxing and enjoying myself!

@Bamboo Forest: Glad you liked the headline :-P [Don't they say: "it's all in the headline."]

Your answer was excellent! If only we all thought that way... Unfortunately, it's easy to get caught up going through the motions in life and we don't give it too much thought...

Japan would be nice! Actually, when I was in college I wanted to do a study abroad program there (I talked myself out of it because I didn't speak the language).

Hi there Ribeezie - are you a snowboarder? Wow! My partner's daughter does snowboarding to a high level.

I'd actually be right here if I had a choice - We talk about this… if we had heaps more money we'd still be doing what we are doing now except we'd spend some money on a few things that would help us in what we are doing. If we went away we would miss out on everything! We were thinking vaguely of going to Italy some time.

@Robin: why yes I am :-P I've been snowboarding for about (10) ten years now. I started out at Big Bear and now we go to Mammoth every year. My g/f is fairly new...I dragged her out with me one year and then after year number two, she's gotten much, much better!

That's awesome that you value what you're doing now and where you are! My g/f and I would absolutely love a getaway to Europe sometime. But that's a little down the line for us as well :-P

We'd probably be in somewhere in British Columbia near the coast. However, that's too far away from the grandkids and other family, so it's not likely to happen.

There are so many amazing places in the world, both that I have been to and haven't been to. As such my answer comes in a few parts.

Right now - I'd love for my wife and I to be having supper at a beach side restaurant in Phuket, Thailand.

After - We'd stroll along the Bosphorus straight in Istanbul and watch the sunset.

In reality - I'm leaving Monday for Beijing and the Olympics. That sounds like a great place to be!

I know I am weird, but of all the places in the world, I love Vegas.

I can explain. :)

The energy. The full acceptance of all types of people. The glitz that is so tacky, it's gorgeous. The amazing restaurants. The nightlife, the shows. The feeling that you can be someone else there. That you can be whoever you want to be.

Vegas is an illusion. But unlike Disney world, it's a grownup type of illusion. I love that.

Anywhere in the world? Vancouver, BC... and I'm here... and loving it! When I visited in 1999 I felt like I was home as soon as the plane landed. Nine months later I moved here from Toronto.

well it would have to be somewhere warm, almost hot. i don't know exactly where but from what i've seen, i would say

arizona
georgia
florida

why? becautiful mountains in arizona/take pictures
georgia - very slow pace in lagrange, ga
florida - hot, green and beautiful

Mountains make me claustrophobic! Enjoy! I would actually live exactly where I am. Canada is absolutely stunning, and I am surrounded by water, which is essential for me. HOWEVER, I would like to make a request to change the weather. I want Canada..for the physical and the political environment...but I want the temperature to remain between 60F and 80F. None of this minus 30 garbage!

My vacation was great, thanks Ribeezie!

Now..where would I go if I could live anywhere in the world. That's tough! I'm in Wisconsin, and love it here for many reasons. But then, there are certain things I don't like (bugs and humidity for a couple of things). I think it's hard to find a "perfect" place. I love mountains, but I also love water. So, Hawaii has great promise. Or maybe Lake Tahoe. Italy seems like a lovely place, and I've always wanted to visit Australia. I don't know, I guess I'm really undecided...

Italy. Italy. and Italy.

Hi,

There are so many places yet to see, but I'd select Hawaii at this moment in my life. Whenever we go there for vacation, I feel like I'm in the Garden of Eden.

@ Davina - I know what you mean about feeling "at home" in a place. When I visited CA when I was 10 years old, I felt like I was born to live here and not NY. My whole life I had this mantra, "When I grow up, I'm moving to CA," and I made it happen after my schooling was completed. Never looked back, never regretted the move -- I'm sure I was born to live here.

Talk about diversity! You've all shared some great places! And I've actually been to a few: Hawaii is amazing; Lake Tahoe I'd like to visit in the winter for the snow;...

@Vered: Vegas huh? I took my g/f there for the first time in Jan. It was awesome but I don't know if I could live there...

@Meleah: I should have known...

@Natural: Oh no...I can't do hot! I prefer cold...or mildly warm...

@Davina: can you believe I actually visited your home town in Dec.? That's pretty cool! It was definitely very nice there...

@Success Professor: That's amazing! Enjoy!!! And tell us all about it...

@Urban Panther: Lol! The mountain views are awesome! And actually...I don't mind cold weather. But yea I do think 60-80 is just about right. From the little I got to see, Canada was a very nice place...

@Linda: Hiya there! Hey...we're neighbors :-) I'm from CA too... I hear you on Hawaii. I visited there many, many years ago and it was simply amazing.

I love hot weather and the sea, and I like where I live (Adelaide, South Australia) Our house is 1km from the beach so ideally living in the same area right by the beach would be fantastic.

Right now anywhere hot and beachy would do. I'm dying here in the Sydney winter. But generally if I could live anywhere in the world it would be Mexico. Maybe Acapulco (everyone thinks it's tourist tacky but it's so much more than that) or somewhere on the Oaxacan coast. Mazunte is heaven. Then again, maybe Puerta Vallarta. It's so difficult to choose...

Just dreaming of Mexico makes me feel warmer. I'm off to put my freezing feet against my husband's sleeping legs. I predict he'll be yelping in the next 5 minutes.

Good night!
Kelly

When you say home town I suspect that you are talking about Toronto. I lived there for 12 years, but my home town is actually called Trout Creek - ha, ha. It is in northern Ontario and at that time had a population of about 500. Very quaint place. As much as I love Vancouver, I will always miss the small town environment.

Lovely question! I'd be dancing with my husband under the stars, somewhere with a pleasant warm breeze, the feel of sand under our feet, and the smell of frangipani in the air.

I haven't snowboarded in years, but I still get the urge when it starts snowing. Maybe this year I'll give it another try!

Hi Ricardo,

Oh, I live such a simple life. I'm happy just where I am. I guess it goes back to the old saying, "home is where the heart is". (But we do have beautiful mountains, too) :)

@Leanne: well you're not too far from the beach so that's fantastic! I gather you've lived there all your life? Have you ever been anywhere else?

@Kelly: really? I love the winter! I'll do the beach (my g/f likes it; we just went to Santa Barbara and spent the day at the beach. It was fantastic). But for me, there's nothing that I Look forward to more than the winter! (Snowboarding, oh yea!).

I take it you visit Mexico a lot? We used to visit when I was younger, now both my grandparents have passed and we don't get out there much. But my brother went to Oaxaca recently to visit w/some of the family...

@Davina: hehe... Whoops! Yea, I guess it wasn't exactly your 'hometown'. But I did get out there...it was nice! You know what's great about small-town environments, every one is so welcoming with one another (or so that's been my experience)...

@Sara: You should definitely give it a go! I've been teaching my g/f over the last two years, she's getting much, much better at it... :-P

@Barbara: I hear you on that!!!

How about the planet Mars? =)
